Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. A fiduciary is required to put your interests first. That means recommendations must be based on what’s best for you, not what pays the advisor more.
What does “fee-only” mean in plain English?
Fee-only means you pay us directly for advice. We don’t get paid commissions for selling products, and we don’t receive kickbacks for recommending certain investments or insurance.
How do you get paid?
We do not earn commissions, and we’re not paid to sell invest or insurance products. Our advice is designed to be objective and conflict-aware. We’re paid through transparent fees for planning (based on complexity) and, if you choose it, a separate investment management fee. Details are shared upfront so there are no surprises.
Who do you typically work with?
We work with busy professionals, business owners and young families-especially during life transitions. That may include a promotion or job change, a new baby, buying a home, starting/growing a business, divorce, or the loss of a loved one. We help you turn complexity into clear next steps and a plan that adapts as life changes.
We may not be the best fit if you:
- You’re looking for someone to “beat the market” or trade frequently. We’re planning-led and long-term in how we think about money and investing.
- You want a quick answer but don’t want to share details or do any follow-through. Good planning requires some collaboration-information, decisions, and implementation steps.
- You prefer to be completely hands-off and don’t want to engage between meetings. We keep things simple and efficient, however we do need your participation to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
Do you work with people who are still “building” (not wealthy yet)?
Absolutely. Many clients are building momentum-creating a savings system, paying off debt, learning to invest, and making big life decisions confidently. That’s exactly what our Fundamentals planning is designed for.
What if my situation gets more/less complex over time?
That’s common. We can adjust your planning path as your life continues to evolve.
Do I need to live in a particular state to work with you?
We are built to work virtually, so we can work with clients regardless of location.
Is there an asset minimum to work with you?
No asset minimum is required for planning. You don’t need a certain net worth to get help.
Do I need to move my investments to you?
No. There are no investment accounts requirements or net worth minimums to work with us. You can work with us for planning without moving any accounts. If you want investment management, it is optional.
How do I know which planning path is right for me?
We will decide together after your initial meeting, once we understand your goals, what’s on your plate right now, and whether we’re a good fit to work together.
